First off is a west coast tour with  Steel House, a new collaborative trio with my long-time friends Scott Colley and Brian Blade. Aqui esta el video de la transmision en vivo de el Prestigioso Thelonious Monk Competition, reservado este año 2014 para trompetistas, y donde el venezolano Alejandro Berti tuvo una excelente actuacion.

La Sonoridad y versatilidad de la bandola en manos de Saul Vera

Saul Vera Ensamble se aproxima a su cumpleaños treinta (30),  del surgimiento de esta agrupacion que tanto a dado a disfrutar a los amantes de la buena musica. En dos años, esta una de las agrupaciones agrupaciones mas solidas y queridas en el ambiente musical venezolano se apresta a celebrar su nacimiento.

Saul Vera, un virtuoso de los instrumentos de cuerda folkloricos venezolanos (bandola, bandolina y cuatro), le ha dado la vuelta al mundo con su espectacular sonoridad, versatilidad y la genial fusion que realiza de nuestra musica autoctona con el Jazz, creando una musica especial, alegre y picara, en el amplio espectro del Latin Jazz, dentro de tantos ritmos y estilos que surgen de los talentos musicales de nuestras Naciones.

El destacado musico ahora se encuentra compartiendo sus presentaciones, producciones y composiciones con la docencia musical, que ha llevado siempre entre sus proyectos; sus conocimientos le permitieron escribir "El Metodo para Aprendizaje de Bandola Llanera" y crear Kalos Music & Art School en Aventura, Florida.

Recientemente acompaño al tambien venezolano Ignacio Izcaray en la ciudad de Miami donde presentaron "30 Años de Canciones".

Cuando se habla de Jazz Venezolano la pieza que disfrutaremos seguidamente es tema obligado, es no solo una gran composicion del Maestro Vera, sino tambien una maravillosa ejecucion con su Ensamble (Miguel Pineda: flauta, Rafael "Pollo" Brito: cuatro, Gustavo Carucci: bajo, Alejandro Montes de Oca: clarinete, Yonathan Gavidia y Javier Suarez: percusion, Coromoto Martinez: maracas), traido desde la costa caribeña de Patanemo (Edo. Carabobo-Venezuela), en donde se enraizo parte de nuestros ancestros africanos con sus tambores: "Selva y Lujuria":

Este es el comunicado que nos llego de Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz en relacion con la alta y prestigiosa competencia que tendra efecto los dias 8 y 9 de Noviembre 2012, en donde entre los trece (13) semifinalistas, mejores trompetistas jovenes del mundo, figura el venezolano Alejandro Berti y tal como pueden ver mas abajo va a ser transmitida por la importante Institucion por su web y su pagina en facebook:

This years Competition will feature 13 of the worlds most outstanding young jazz trumpeters who will perform before a panel of jazz greats including Ambrose Akinmusire, Randy Brecker, Roy Hargrove, Quincy Jones, Jimmy Owens and Arturo Sandoval.

The Semifinals of the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Trumpet Competition will be held on Saturday, November 8th at Schoenberg Hall on the UCLA campus from 12 to 5 p.m. Each semifinalist will perform for 15 minutes, accompanied by Rodney Whitaker on bass, Reggie Thomas on piano, and Carl Allen on drums. Three finalists will be selected to participate in the Competition Finals on Sunday, November 9th at the Dolby Theatre. They will vie for scholarships and prizes totaling more than $100,000 including a $25,000 first place scholarship and a guaranteed recording contract with Concord Music Group.

Immediately following the three finalists performances at the Competition Finals, an All-Star Gala Concert on Sunday, November 9 will bring together some of the most renowned artists of our time. Herbie Hancock, Quincy Jones and Kevin Spacey will host the event. Special guests will include Pharrell Williams, John Mayer, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Wayne Shorter, Queen Latifah,Jimmy Heath, Don Cheadle, Chaka Khan, Goldie Hawn, Taj Mahal, Dianne Reeves, Marcus Miller, Kenny Burrell,Stefon Harris, T.S. Monk, Joshua Redman, Billy Childs, Melissa Aldana, Vinnie Colaiuta, James Genus, Jeff Tain Watts,Ben Williams, Kris Bowers and others. John Beasley will serve as the evenings musical director.

At the All-Star Gala Concert, the Institute will present its prestigious Maria Fisher Founders Award to President Bill Clinton. Each year, the Founders Award is given to an individual who has made major contributions to the perpetuation of jazz music and the expansion of jazz and music education in schools around the world. Past
recipients of the Founders Award include Aretha Franklin,Madeleine Albright, George Benson, B.B. King, Quincy Jones, Jimmy Heath, Wayne Shorter, Clark Terry, Dr. David Baker, George Wein, Max Roach and Stevie Wonder.

A lifelong devotee of jazz, President Bill Clinton has been a supporter of the Institute for more than two decades. The first In Performance at the White House event of his Administration was an evening of jazz on the South Lawn that was televised on PBS. Throughout his eight years in office, he showcased jazz at the White House on numerous occasions, and through the U.S. Department of State enabled jazz masters to travel around the world with young jazz professionals and students, serving as ambassadors and sharing Americas music with millions of people. A special highlight was the Summit of the Americas, where President Clinton and Secretary of State Madeleine Albright showcased jazz and the Institutes musicians before 34 world leaders.

Herbie Hancock, Chairman of the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz, said, We look forward to being in Los Angeles for our 2014 competition and jazz gala. This event promises to be historic, because not only are we showcasing the worlds most talented young trumpet players, we are honoring one of my personal heroes. President Clinton has been a jazz advocate for decades and supported the education programs of the Thelonious Monk Institute throughout his Presidency. He continues to be recognized for his creativity on the tenor saxophone, skills he honed during his youth through public school music programs."

Proceeds from the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Trumpet Competition and All-Star Gala Concert will support the Institutes public school jazz education programs across the U.S. and around the world. All of these education programs are provided free of charge to students, schools and communities worldwide.

Alejandro Berti es oriundo de Caracas, Venezuela, pero ha hecho que la ciudad de Nueva York sea su paraíso musical y la trompeta su brazo derecho desde que la exposición a la franqueza y la vitalidad de la improvisación. Alejandro proviene de cuatro generaciones de la música por parte de su padre. Él es un músico para quien la expresión, "carreras de música en sus venas", se quiere decir literalmente. Su madre fue clásica y le entreno en el violín antes de que pudiera decir una frase adecuada. 

Después de escogio la trompeta en su adolescencia. Alejandro se ha desempeñado en una cantidad amplia de géneros. Todo, desde la Sinfónica de jazz, desde el rock hasta el funk, desde salsa hasta SKA- lo que sea. Para Alejandro, no se trata de boxeo a sí mismo en un género. Es sobre el proceso creativo, que vive en el ritmo y el bullicio de Nueva York, y colaborando con otros músicos para comunicar algo universal a través de la música. Cuando no está en el estudio, Alejandro se presenta en vivo en varios clubes de música en toda la ciudad y el desempeño docente a sus queridos alumnos. Una gran cantidad de tiempo y energía de Alejandro está dedicado a enseñar y guiar a sus estudiantes. Entre sus pupilos se encuentra Vivian, de 10 años, dice: "Él me ha mostrado el apasionante mundo de la música a través de la trompeta."

El "Proyecto Berti Alejandro" es la aventura de Alejandro Berti a colaborar con otros músicos en tres álbumes de géneros muy distintos. Uno de los tres discos es un dúo de trompeta y piano de jazz, donde Alejandro tocara con normas, con su colaborador de largo plazo y amigo, Logan Evan Thomas en el piano. 

Otro álbum del proyecto trata de experimentar con la electrónica para producir un sonido único y rico en instrumentación acústica se complementa con los sonidos de la electrónica para crear un ambiente de jazz-infundido remachado. Alejandro estará colaborando con su padre en la más compleja álbum de Proyecto de Alejandro. Este esfuerzo diligente pretende abarcar los ricos sonidos tradicionales de la música Americana / folk.

Ahora Alejandro se apresta a una importantante competencia, ya llego a semifinales, esperamos una gran presentacion y un gran resultado, el unico latinoamericano, seleccionado para el exigente evento musical.

Orlando Poleo descarga en Paris con Pedrito Martinez Group

Ademas de sus magnificas producciones. -Cimarroneando-Sangre Negra (1996), El Buen Camino (1997), Lo Bueno de la Vida (2002) y Curate (2007)-, en las que mezcla el Jazz Latino y la musica tropical, el estelar conguero venezolano Orlando Poleo ha compartido escenario con otros baluartes del mismo instrumento como: Miguel Anga Diaz, Patato Valdes y Tata Guiness.

Ahora le traemos una de las mas recientes presentaciones de Poleo, en Paris el 21 de julio 2014, en donde se combino con uno de los congueros que establece el ritmo actualmente Pedrito Martinez.

Poleo que esta radicado en Paris, desde hace aproximadamente 18 años, fue invitado por Pedrito Martinez Group, del que forman parte Ariacne Trujillo, Jhair Salas y el tambien venezolano Alvaro Benavidez, al escenario y dieron este espectaculo:
